Directly across the street from Stichter Hardware are two city-center businesses again modeled from landmarks in Reading. The building toward the rear of the photo behind the crossing tower is modeled after the Colonial Trust bank that was also located at 5th & Penn. It was built using Jerry's cardboard technique, and covered with Model Hobbies brick paper. The crossing tower was constructed from styrene and was based on a magazine article from 1954. Finally, in the foreground is Pomeroy's, one of downtown Reading's signature department stores, built from a Bachmann Cityscenes kit. Also, take a look under the archway at the rear of the photo. Jerry used a photo of model buildings as a small backdrop to create a convincing illusion of the street continuing on for some distance.
